California hit by severe weather conditions
California is experiencing severe weather conditions due to a strong storm system that has brought heavy rain, winds, and snowfall across the state. According to CNBC, Southern California, which typically receives half an inch to 1 inch of rain this time of year, is seeing between 4 and 8 inches, with even more precipitation in mountainous areas. The National Weather Service has reported near white-out conditions in the Sierra Nevada, making travel treacherous. Although the storm is expected to ease by Friday, risks of high surf along the coast, flash flooding near Los Angeles, and avalanches in the Sierra Nevada remain. Waves near the San Francisco Bay Area could reach up to 25 feet, and residents in Wrightwood have been advised to prepare for possible mudslides.
