A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Western and Central New York, with 3-6 inches of snow expected and higher amounts possible in some areas.
An Extreme Cold Watch is in effect, with wind chills potentially dropping to -25°F from Friday night through Sunday morning.

Snow and lake-effect snow expected Friday-Saturday night
A winter weather advisory is in effect for much of western and central New York, with widespread snow and lake-effect snow expected from Friday through Saturday night. The National Weather Service in Buffalo reports that Erie, Niagara, Orleans, Genesee, Wyoming, Chautauqua, and Cattaraugus counties are likely to see snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches, with even higher amounts possible on hilltops south of Buffalo. Wind gusts reaching up to 40 mph could cause blowing and drifting snow, creating hazardous travel conditions.
