Application open for Hurricane Helene disaster relief
Georgia has officially launched the application process for disaster relief funds related to Hurricane Helene, with applications being accepted from March 16, 2026, through April 27, 2026, via farmrecovery.com. Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper announced the finalization of the agreement between the Georgia Department of Agriculture and the USDA for the Hurricane Helene Block Grant. This grant is specifically designed to support Georgia producers who experienced losses not typically covered by traditional USDA and FSA disaster assistance programs. The focus is on providing assistance for future losses in long-term commodities, including pecans, timber, and poultry. Additionally, the grant addresses conception losses in beef, cattle, and dairy operations, as well as infrastructure damages and losses in long-term fruit crops such as blueberries and citrus.
