Geomagnetic activity subsides after spectacular aurora displays
After several nights of spectacular northern lights displays across the United States, geomagnetic activity is finally beginning to subside, according to reports from NOAA and the U.K. Met Office. The series of powerful coronal mass ejections (CMEs) that fueled the recent G4-level geomagnetic storms has largely moved past Earth. However, aurora enthusiasts may still have one more opportunity to witness the mesmerizing phenomenon on Sunday night.
