Explosive wildfires are currently devastating the Oklahoma Panhandle and extending into Kansas, creating extremely dangerous conditions exacerbated by high temperatures and strong, variable winds. The largest of these, the Ranger Road Fire, has consumed more than 280,000 acres, contributing to a total of over 300,000 acres burned in Oklahoma this week. The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food & Forestry reports 33 active fires across nearly two dozen counties, with temperatures soaring 15°F (8°C) above average, intensifying the fire risk.
