A winter weather advisory is in effect for several parts of upstate New York, with significant snowfall expected to continue through Friday. The National Weather Service in Buffalo reports that lake-effect snow could bring up to two feet of snow in areas south and east of Lake Ontario by Friday evening. Specific advisories have been issued for counties including Niagara, Orleans, Erie, Genesee, Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Allegany, where 2 to 5 inches of snow are expected between Wednesday noon and Thursday morning. Wind gusts reaching up to 35 mph may create hazardous road conditions, potentially affecting daily commutes.
