Record-breaking heat wave hits Western United States
A historic heat wave is scorching the Western United States, shattering temperature records for March. A temporary weather station near Martinez Lake, Arizona, registered a high of 110°F (43°C), which could be recognized as the new March record. Permanent stations in Indio and Thermal, California, also reported temperatures of 108°F (42°C). Climate scientists attribute this extreme heat to a strong heat dome intensified by climate change, causing temperatures to soar 20 to 40 degrees above average. This has resulted in over 100 all-time March temperature records being broken across California, Arizona, and Colorado.
