Five people died when a plane crashed near the Galveston causeway in Texas on Monday while attempting to land in dense fog. The aircraft, which originated from Mexico and was carrying eight people, crashed during its approach in difficult visibility, which had dropped to about half a mile under a Dense Fog Advisory. Two people were rescued from the wreckage, while one person remains missing. Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, and Galveston Police. The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board have launched an investigation. Officials are asking the public to avoid the area as emergency crews continue recovery and search efforts.
