Strong winds cause widespread power outages in Connecticut
Hundreds of Connecticut residents experienced power outages early Thursday morning as strong winds and showers, associated with a passing cold front, swept through the state. Eversource, the state's primary energy provider, reported approximately 1,900 outages by 5:30 a.m., a decrease from the over 3,500 initially recorded. The towns most severely impacted included Guilford, Cornwall, and Madison, where high winds caused damage to power lines and equipment.
