Severe weather threatens Illinois with potential tornadoes
Illinois is preparing for severe weather, including the possibility of tornadoes, as a storm system moves across the state. The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for several counties, including LaSalle, Grundy, and Kankakee in Illinois, as well as Jasper and Newton in Indiana, which is in effect until 11 p.m. The risk is particularly high south of Interstate 80 and in northwest Indiana, where it is considered 'moderate'. The Chicago area could experience strong winds, large hail, and flash flooding, with wind gusts possibly reaching 60 miles per hour. The storm is expected to impact the Chicago area beginning at 3 p.m., with the most intense activity expected to occur between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m.
