Oahu hit by severe flooding, evacuations ordered
Severe flooding has struck Oahu, Hawaii, leading to mandatory evacuations in several towns located north of Honolulu. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Honolulu had previously cautioned about an approaching storm system set to deliver widespread rain, with the most intense period expected from Friday night into Saturday night. The ground, already saturated from prior weather occurrences, has heightened the potential for flooding, even with lesser rainfall amounts. Currently, evacuation alerts have been issued for regions such as Otake Camp, Haleiwa Beach Road Area, Kukea Circle/Wailua Beach Road, Paala Road leading into Haleiwa, Waialua Town Area, and Weed Circle/Waialua Beach Road. Residents in these zones are strongly encouraged to evacuate immediately to higher ground.
