Severe Storm, Flood Threat Builds Across Plains, Ohio Valley
US · Published Mar 2, 2026
Severe storms, including potential tornadoes, large hail, and strong winds, are expected across the Plains and Ohio Valley from Wednesday through Friday.
Cities like Dallas, Oklahoma City, and Little Rock are at increased risk of severe weather.
Repeated storms may lead to flash flooding, especially in the Mississippi and Ohio River valleys.
Thunderstorms, severe weather, and heavy rain expected
An active early-March weather pattern is set to bring multiple rounds of thunderstorms, severe weather, and heavy rain from Texas through the Plains into the Ohio Valley. Moisture streaming north from the Gulf, combined with clashing warm and cold air masses, will elevate the risk of large hail, damaging winds up to 70 mph, and isolated tornadoes. This threat begins Wednesday and is expected to continue into Friday.
