The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) has cautioned that climate change could severely impact the affordability and availability of home insurance by 2050. APRA's stress test indicates that the proportion of uninsured homes in Australia could surge from one in seven to one in four by 2050. The assessment considered two critical scenarios: one focusing on the physical risks associated with extreme weather events and the other on the economic implications of transitioning to a low-emissions economy.
