Significant lake-effect snow event through Tuesday
Western Michigan is bracing for a significant lake-effect snow event that is expected to persist through Tuesday. While much of the state will see only sporadic snow showers resulting in minimal accumulation, a concentrated band of heavy lake-effect snow is predicted to impact areas extending from Muskegon, Pentwater, and Ludington northeastward through Big Rapids and into northeast Lower Michigan. This localized phenomenon deviates from typical weather patterns, which usually see lake-effect snow extending southeast towards Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo.
