A minor G1 geomagnetic storm may cause the Northern Lights to glow across the northern United States from late January 8 into early January 9. According to the NOAA, this activity is driven by the combined effects of a coronal mass ejection and a solar wind interaction region. The peak viewing time is expected to be between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. local time.
