Auroras visible after geomagnetic storm impact
The Northern Lights continue to dance after two spectacular nights of auroras visible across North America and as far south as Mexico. Geomagnetic storms remain active tonight, driven by the ongoing impact of a coronal mass ejection (CME) from the Nov. 11 X5.1 solar flare on Earth’s space environment. This CME is maintaining elevated solar wind speeds, leading to potentially strong to severe geomagnetic storm conditions (G3 to G4) through early Friday.
