Winter storms are bringing snow and high winds to the Midwest, Great Lakes, and Maine.
Heavy lake-effect snow is expected in the Great Lakes region, with snowfall ranging from 3–11 inches.
Another storm is expected to bring more snow to the Ohio Valley, Appalachia, and New England through the weekend.
Snow and high winds across multiple regions
Winter storms are currently impacting the Midwest, Great Lakes, and Maine regions, bringing with them a combination of snow and high winds. An exiting low-pressure system is expected to deposit 1–4 inches of snow across northern Maine today. Simultaneously, a new weather disturbance is moving through the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes, leading to additional snowfall. Light snow accumulations of 1–3 inches are anticipated in the Dakotas, Minnesota, and Iowa. These conditions are exacerbated by strong wind gusts reaching up to 80 mph, causing drifting snow and significantly reduced visibility, posing a hazard to travelers.
