A significant tornado threat is developing across the Central U.S., impacting more than ten states.
The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Level 4 severe weather risk for parts of Illinois and Indiana, indicating a potential for intense EF-3+ tornadoes.
Residents are urged to stay informed, monitor weather forecasts, and have a tornado safety plan in place.
Tornado risk across ten states increasing
The Central United States faces a heightened risk of severe tornadoes, affecting over ten states following a recent deadly outbreak. An upper-level disturbance from northwest Mexico is merging with a system from the northern U.S., intensifying over the central region. This interaction is pulling warm, humid air from the Gulf of America, raising dew points significantly across Texas, Oklahoma, eastern Kansas, and extending into the Mid-Mississippi and Ohio Valleys.
