A major heat wave is currently affecting the United States, causing record-breaking temperatures across numerous states. A significant heat dome is responsible for this event, and forecasts suggest that 540 potential high-temperature records may be approached, matched, or surpassed in 28 states. The extreme weather has already led to new March temperature records in 14 states, including Arizona and California, where temperatures reached 112°F (44°C).
