Gainesville activates Cold Night Shelter Program
The City of Gainesville, Florida, is preparing for severe weather conditions with temperatures expected to drop below 45°F (7°C) during the evening hours from December 29 to January 1. In response to these cold conditions, the city has activated its Cold Night Shelter (CNS) Program. This initiative is designed to provide shelter to those in need during periods of extreme cold. The CNS program typically operates from November 1 through March 31, offering a safe haven when temperatures fall below the threshold of 45°F. The program will remain active until overnight temperatures rise above this level.
