A high surf alert is in effect for Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, significantly impacting maritime operations in the region. Heavy swells have led to the grounding of the OSV ENE Vision, an offshore supply vessel built in 1998, just outside the bay at Luperon. The vessel, which was carrying a tugboat and towing a barge, lost power and was driven onto the rocks due to the severe weather conditions.
