This meteorological phenomenon, a frequent occurrence during the winter months in the Salt Lake Valley, traps cold air beneath a layer of warmer air, effectively preventing the dispersion of pollutants. As a result, the concentration of particulate matter, such as PM2.5, and other harmful pollutants increases substantially, posing risks to public health.
