Mississippi power outages persist after winter storm
In northern Mississippi, nearly 20,000 customers remain without power two weeks after a severe winter storm. The storm, which struck late last month, initially left about 180,000 homes and businesses without electricity. Lafayette County, home to Oxford, has the highest number of outages, with approximately 4,200 customers still affected. Other counties, including Tippah, Panola, Yalobusha, and Tishomingo, also report significant outages. Despite temperatures reaching 70°F (21°C) in Oxford, ice remains in shaded areas, and downed trees and power lines continue to pose challenges.
