D.C. area experiences sudden winter weather
A strong cold front has swept through the Washington, D.C. area, causing a significant drop in temperatures and bringing winter weather. Temperatures plummeted from the mid-80s to the 30s, accompanied by strong northwest winds. Rain showers turned to snow, with up to an inch accumulating in some areas, especially on grass and rooftops. The National Weather Service reported 1.2 inches of snow in Montgomery County, Maryland, and an inch in Herndon, Virginia. Despite the snowfall, road temperatures remained warm enough to prevent significant accumulation on pavements, and the skies began to clear, allowing sunshine to melt much of the snow.
