Wind gusts have already reached over 60 mph in these areas, and western Minnesota has experienced gusts up to 70 mph. The current weather system is moving out, but residual snow showers are expected to taper off in northeastern Minnesota, leaving minor accumulations. The next storm system, carrying substantial moisture, will track south, causing scattered snow showers on Saturday morning. The most intense period of the storm is anticipated from Saturday evening into Sunday night, with significant snowfall expected across southern Minnesota and into central and southern Wisconsin. Accumulations could exceed a foot of snow in some locations.
