The Upper and Middle Mississippi Valley is currently experiencing some of the coldest temperatures of the season. A strong high-pressure system is contributing to daytime highs in the single digits, with dangerously low wind chill values possible. These conditions pose a significant risk of frostbite and hypothermia with prolonged exposure, and also increase the likelihood of frozen pipes.
