Meteor lights up Texas sky, creates boom
A brilliant meteor illuminated the skies over East Texas on Saturday, creating a spectacle during daylight hours and startling locals with a resounding boom. NASA has verified that the meteor first appeared approximately 49 miles above Stagecoach, situated northwest of Houston. It hurtled through the atmosphere at an estimated speed of 35,000 miles per hour before disintegrating roughly 29 miles above Cypress Station.
