NWS issues watches amid severe weather threat
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued tornado watches across four states, including Ohio, far western New York, parts of Pennsylvania, and northern West Virginia, due to severe weather expected in the Midwest and Ohio Valley. These alerts, prompted by an updated severe weather outlook highlighting an 'enhanced risk' in Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio, are in effect until 11 p.m. local time. Meteorologist Matt Barnes warned that above-average temperatures could intensify the incoming storms. Residents are urged to stay informed via local news and weather apps, prepare a safe space like a basement or windowless interior room, and keep emergency kits ready with water, non-perishable food, flashlights, and a battery-operated radio.
