The Kenya Meteorological Department had warned of significant rainfall, but the actual amount far exceeded expectations, with 112mm falling in a single day, surpassing the entire monthly average. This extreme weather event led to tragic consequences, including at least ten deaths from drowning and electrocution, and left dozens of vehicles stranded in the floodwaters. The disaster has disrupted daily life, damaged infrastructure, and raised concerns about the spread of disease among displaced residents.
