Investing in coastal resilience projects for beaches
Los Angeles County is taking proactive steps to combat coastal erosion by investing $5.1 million in planning and designing coastal resilience projects for Zuma, Dockweiler, and Redondo beaches. These iconic California beaches are currently eroding at an alarming rate of up to 4.5 feet per year due to the combined effects of sea level rise and reduced sediment flow. The initiative, funded by Measure A, seeks to implement strategies such as widening beaches and restoring dunes to protect these vital coastal assets.
