Hundreds of tourists are currently stranded in Jamaica as Hurricane Melissa approaches, having strengthened into a Category 4 storm. With sustained winds reaching 135 mph (217 km/h), the hurricane is expected to bring torrential rainfall of up to 700mm (27.6 inches) and waves as high as 4 meters (13 feet), posing a significant threat of catastrophic flooding and landslides across the island.
