Earthquake near Puxico in New Madrid Zone
A magnitude 2.6 earthquake rattled southeastern Missouri near Puxico, within the infamous New Madrid Seismic Zone, on Monday. The tremor, striking at a shallow depth of approximately 3.8 kilometers (2.4 miles), was reported by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). While the quake was felt by some residents in the immediate area, there were no reports of damage or injuries.
