Mountain West faces record-breaking winter heat
The Mountain West is currently grappling with unprecedented heat levels, marking this winter as the second warmest in the past 131 years, according to federal scientists. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has reported that extensive areas within Idaho, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico have experienced temperatures significantly above average during February. In some locations, record-breaking temperatures have been observed. Dan Berc from the Las Vegas National Weather Service has cautioned that these elevated temperatures are expected to persist, with Las Vegas and Phoenix anticipating historic heat levels in the coming week. This escalating trend of extreme heat events is projected to become more common, indicating a substantial alteration in the region's climate patterns.
