CME expected to cause geomagnetic storm
A geomagnetic storm watch has been issued for March 19 due to a coronal mass ejection (CME) from the Sun. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Space Weather Prediction Center expects the storm to reach G2 (moderate) to possibly G3 (strong) levels. This event may push auroral activity farther south than usual, potentially allowing the northern lights to be visible in parts of the northern United States.
