Cold returns after brief respite in NYC
After a brief respite, frigid temperatures are set to return to New York City. On Monday, temperatures in Central Park finally climbed above freezing, reaching 34°F (1°C), ending a nine-day streak of sub-freezing highs. This cold spell, while significant, did not break the record 16-day streak set in 1961. However, New Yorkers shouldn't get used to the milder conditions, as the cold is expected to make a comeback.
