Unseasonably warm temperatures forecast for Christmas 2025
A historic heat dome is expected across much of the United States, bringing unseasonably warm temperatures for the Christmas holiday. An upper-level ridge will cause temperatures to rise 20–35°F above normal, creating weather more typical of late spring than winter. The Plains, Texas, and parts of the Midwest are likely to see highs in the 70s and 80s, with some regions possibly experiencing their warmest Christmas Day since the 1950s.
