Powerful G4 Solar Storm Set To Shake Up Earth’s Skies
US · Published Nov 12, 2025
A powerful G4 geomagnetic storm is expected to hit Earth on November 12, potentially disrupting satellites and power grids.
The storm is a result of multiple coronal mass ejections, including one linked to a significant X5.1 solar flare.
While posing risks to technology, the storm may also produce spectacular auroral displays visible at lower latitudes.
Powerful storm follows solar explosions
A powerful G4-level geomagnetic storm is set to impact Earth on November 12, following a series of significant solar explosions. The National Weather Service’s Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC) has issued multiple watches, including a G2 watch for November 11, a G4 watch for November 12, and a G3 watch for November 13. These alerts come in response to several coronal mass ejections (CMEs) observed between November 9 and 12.
