Drought conditions are worsening across the United States, with the Western region experiencing the most severe impacts. As of early September, 64% of the West was classified as being in drought, a significant increase from 51% in June. The entire Colorado River Basin is now affected, leading to critically low reservoir levels that threaten water supplies for millions. The persistent drought has also contributed to heightened wildfire risks throughout the region, straining resources and endangering communities.
