North India chills, South and East prepare for rain
Winter is tightening its grip on North India, even as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issues warnings for heavy rain in the South and East. The remnants of Cyclone Montha have weakened into a deep depression over coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining Telangana, but its rain bands continue to lash parts of the East and South. The IMD has issued red, orange, and yellow alerts across multiple Telangana districts and warned of heavy rain for Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, and Jharkhand, with light to moderate showers over Gujarat until November 1.
