India's record rice harvest despite rain damage
India is on track to achieve a record rice harvest this year, solidifying its position as a global leader in rice production, despite localized crop damage from heavy rains in Punjab and other northern states. According to Prem Garg, National President of the Indian Rice Exporters Federation (IREF), updated assessments indicate that only 3–4% of the rice crop has been affected by excess rainfall. Government relief measures are further mitigating losses for farmers.
