According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the region has received 741.4 mm of rain since June 1, which is 31.5% above the normal seasonal rainfall of 563.6 mm. This year's monsoon is notable for its consistent rainfall, with no prolonged dry spells throughout June, July, August, and September. IMD records show that such consistent surplus rainfall across all four monsoon months has only occurred three times since 1950, including this year and 1978.
