Rescue operations ongoing after devastating cloudburst
Rescue operations continue for the second day in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar following a devastating cloudburst. The death toll has tragically risen to 60, with hundreds still missing, particularly along the Machail Mata Yatra route. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah confirmed the ongoing intensive efforts to locate and assist those affected. So far, 167 individuals have been rescued, with 38 in critical condition. The flash floods have caused widespread destruction, obliterating a makeshift market, a langar site, and a security outpost. Additionally, at least 16 houses, government buildings, three temples, four water mills, a 30-metre bridge, and over a dozen vehicles have been severely damaged.
