Dehradun, India, is reeling from a devastating cloudburst that has claimed at least 15 lives, with 16 still missing amidst widespread flooding and destruction. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued a yellow alert for several districts in Uttarakhand, but the intensity of the rainfall far exceeded expectations. Dehradun recorded a staggering 264 mm of rain until 8:30 am, marking the heaviest rainfall in the region in over a century. Maldevata also experienced extreme precipitation, reporting 149 mm of rain.
