A tropical disturbance in the eastern Gulf of Mexico is bringing heavy rain and potential flooding to Florida and the Southeast U.S.
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) has given the system a 20% chance of development within 48 hours and a 30% chance over the next seven days.

Impact & Risks

The primary risk from this tropical disturbance is heavy rainfall, which could lead to street and low-lying-area flooding in west-central and southwest Florida. Localized areas may experience rainfall totals exceeding 5 inches, with isolated amounts near 8 inches in parts of the Southeast. Residents in flood-prone areas should remain vigilant, as repeated rounds of storms could exacerbate conditions. While the system is unlikely to develop into a named storm, its slow movement and moisture content pose a significant risk to communities along the Gulf Coast.
