A persistent storm pattern will fuel severe thunderstorms from Friday (10) through Sunday (12) across the Plains, Midwest and mid-Atlantic.
Heavy downpours may trigger flash flooding, while damaging wind gusts, frequent lightning and isolated tornadoes are possible in parts of Kansas, the Ohio Valley, Tennessee, the Carolinas and Georgia.

Specific areas that are particularly vulnerable include parts of Kansas, the Ohio Valley, Tennessee, the Carolinas, and Georgia. The ground in many of these regions is already saturated due to previous rainfall, which significantly increases the risk of flooding as storms repeatedly track over the same locations. This persistent moisture and the continuous passage of storm systems create a heightened threat of widespread inundation. The forecast indicates that this unsettled weather pattern will persist through the weekend before a shift occurs early next week.
