• The Weather Prediction Center (WPC) has issued a Mesoscale Precipitation Discussion highlighting the potential for flash flooding across central to southeastern Arizona.
• Scattered thunderstorms have developed along the Mogollon Rim and southern Gila and Pinal counties, fueled by a negatively tilted mid to upper-level trough and a strong upper-level jet.

Impact & Risks

Flash flooding is the primary concern, particularly in areas with repeating or training thunderstorms. Central to southeastern Arizona, including the Mogollon Rim and parts of Gila and Pinal counties, are at risk. Low-lying areas, urban regions, and locations near streams and rivers are especially vulnerable. Rainfall rates of up to 2 inches per hour could overwhelm drainage systems, leading to localized flooding. Residents in these areas should remain vigilant and prepared for rapidly changing conditions.
